The Blueprint for True Representative Democracy | Knowledge is Power

One simple law will change our short-term elected dictatorships into real representatives running our countries for and on behalf of the People. A few simple tweaks follow on, to perfect it.

One simple law to transform short-term elected dictatorships into true representatives controlled by the us, the people.

We have been told the sky will fall down, if we the people control our own governments.

I wonder who told us that???

If we want true representative democracy (which we have never had, thanks to the un-elected UK House of Lords, and courts appointed by the governments they are supposed to be independent from), we need to:

1. pass a simple law revoking all “sovereign immunity” (legislature, executive, judiciary, local authorities) so they are personally liable for their actions like everyone else is, and all duties and remedies under the law apply

2. tweak the machinery of government:

   1. transfer powers of assent to legislation and major transactions, impeachment, dissolution of Parliament (no confidence), to the voters by online referendum, triggered by petition where required

      (abolish the surrogate barons and kings controlling our governments: “upper houses”, presidents, “ceremonial” monarchs and “representatives” appointed by the governments they are supposed to be controlling!
      They have no place in a democracy. The proper “upper house” in a democracy is the people themselves.)

   2. create a power to initiate legislation by referendum triggered by petition.

   3. create a Court of last resort by referendum, triggered by petition.

   4. create independently elected:

      1. Election Commission

      2. Judicial appointments and disciplinary Commission

         Life appointments do not make judges “independent”. Personal liability does.

      3. Public/Parliamentary Rapporteur/Commission for Information and media standards

         also responsible for setting up a global publicly owned, open source, not for profit suite of media platforms with data privacy, user filtering and sorting (“algorithms”), opt-in advertising and all normal funding sources for creators to receive full payment for their work, and public independent enforcement of the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, administered by the United Nations Human Rights Office - in competition with the disinformation platforms.

      4. (Optional for American-style systems with a separate executive: elect ministers directly accountable for managing specific portfolios and working together, instead of a surrogate king!)

   5. Create a binding bill of rights directly importing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the international covenants. Plus a basic underlying ratchet forbidding discrimination of any kind except to reduce disadvantage - the principle that no law can lessen the rights of any already disadvantaged person.

   6. Remove all secrecy. “Commercially sensitive” contracts are advertised publicly for tender opened publicly and publicly discussed. “Defence” operations subject to the law and the same judicial warrants as police operations.

   7. limit voting powers for national government (at least) to full citizens. People committed to citizenship of one country can elect their own governments; they have no place controlling governments of other countries.

With personal liability for their actions, grifters and incompetents will disappear. Then they can’t obstruct and force out good faith competent people who currently can’t do their jobs properly or don’t apply.

With personal economic security, responsibility and power, and proper information, citizens rapidly become politically literate and are easily able to understand and make good decisions on issues. (Proved in Athenian democracy, Citizens Assemblies etc)

Create an environment where corruption and wastage cannot exist, and our country will be transformed.

Bad people tricked us that we had democracy - while behind our backs they quietly changed the meaning of “represent”.

Now bad people are trying to trick us into throwing away the freedoms and powers that our forebears fought for and won. Don’t let them.

We are 95% there. We already have:

• the power, and well developed systems, to elect representatives (but only in one of the 3 arms of government).

• highly developed laws to protect society and individuals against grift (except in government).

• the United Nations to protect us from invasion and interference.

  In 1945 the UN revolutionised the world, giving us the world we know, of defined national borders and universal human rights, including the collective right to govern our own countries.

  It ended the law of “might is right” where the malignant greedy expended other humans’ lives to take and keep territory and enrich themselves.

  
  The only reason it is not doing its job is because our governments, which make up the United Nations, aren’t representing us and doing their jobs.

• the internet - the perfect mass communication and information service. The only reason it is corrupted because is our governments are not doing their job to protect us.

It’s time to take that last step - to swap “rulers” for colleagues, working together to make decisions for ourselves and make a country where everyone can thrive.
